Beatrix Mine - SA

Six SENTRUM methane recovery monitoring systems are being installed in the Gold Fields Limited Beatrix Gold Mine as part of a mine-wide CDM, gas-to-energy and safety monitoring project. The project is undergoing the UNFCCC CDM approval process with SENTRUM as a key element.

Recovered methane is being utilized to generate electricity, as well as to produce chilled process water, with excess being flared-off. Gas quantums recovered and utilized will be registered for carbon credits in the near future.
